Psp has finally done some significant changes on playing format. Here is my thoughts about the changes:
1. Lengthen the field 10 feet per side (Total size will now be 120 x 170 feet)
I think this is awesome. Past few years teams have gotten so good shooting off the break that it is almost impossible to get 5 guys on the field and games are either won or lost right from the beginning and we haven’t seen too much of that middle game, where good teams can put team work together. Also the fact that you can shoot so straight from snake side to the dorido side is making aggressive moves down the field very hard. I hope 10 feet is enough, If it would be my decisions my vote would’ve been 20 feet more. It’s gonna be awesome to see players to play 5 on 5 paintball. I also believe that this is going to allow teams to play even more aggressive paintball as you can plan more to push one side or another.
· Eliminate Pit-side coaching and communication
Another great change. I just wished they would’ve banned coaching from the spectator side as well. I understand that PSP kept it as it’s very hard to control. Just a thought here. Full field has really killed great game breaking moves from the game. If you think back in early 2000, this is where we got all our superstars as they were able to make moves that were very spectacular. Since coaching started it really took away from these players and it’s been only few new younger players, who has been able to stand out since coaching and I think that’s a lot to do with coaching. Look forward to see lots of run troughs in dorido side 2011!!!
· Field Layouts will not be released prior to the events
Great Change!!! This will bring back field walking! Also prelim games are going to be so much exciting as teams don’t have their lanes down since beginning. This opens so much more possibilities to execute special plays and makes everything more exciting. Also by Sunday you will see teams getting so much better! It’s also will change a practicing a lot. Now teams can concentrate improving team game and drills at practices, which will bring paint consumption down from teams and allow them to practice more often
· Adjust position of bunkers to better suit a wider variety of players
Everyone, who’s been around paintball for long time remembers the transition what happened 2003-2005. Game changed to be so fast and athletic that it drove many players and people who were financing several teams not to play anymore. In the beginning they started coaching and just being team owners, but after little while it wasnt that much fun and these people started to disappear from paintball and left many teams without support. In the end paintball is only serious pro sport for few selected people and paintball to survive we need all people to be able to play and have good time. Especially in divisional paintball this is going to be good change.
Im very excited to see how PSP season is going to turn out to be. Also I think we will see more variety of team making top 3 this year! What I’ve talked to other pro players everyone’s agreed with this.
Wow, just got the actual production boards in and tested em out. These boards are sick! I heard some complains that you cant see the screen… Actually that was my idea to make a board cheaper, because you only look that screen whenever you are setting your gun up. And in NT it is so easy to open the grips, so no really need for new grips. If someone wants to modify grips, you can order new pair from dye and get creative:)
Anyway check these boards out. They make your life so much easier as you dont have to remember all the lights anymore.
Me, Pete and Devon did a trip to Finland this summer. This trip was one of the best trips I’ve done in long time. Of course going home is always fun, but this time weather was just perfect, fishing was great, partying was even better and got to play tons of fun paintball…We were able to put together another episode for Dye video travel blog from the trip, unfortunately party material was mostly R rated so it had to come out:) . . Check it out though. Thanks for filmers: Patrik, Ari, Sam…
